A CableCARD is a device that provides access to certain encrypted High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition (SD) digital programs without the need for a Set-Top Box.
CableCARD modules have a size slightly larger than a credit card and look like a PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) card.

Follow the online activation steps. Activation takes approximately 30 minutes.
What digital programs can I watch with my CableCard?
You can view all FiOS TV Standard Definition and High Definition digital channels to which you subscribe. You can also order certain Pay-Per-View events by calling 1-800-VERIZON (1-800-837-4966). Without a Set-Top Box, you do not have access to On Demand programming, the FiOS TV Interactive Media Guide, or other advanced features of the FiOS TV service.
What programs can I watch with my DCR TV without a CableCard or Set-Top Box?
You can watch FiOS TV Local Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) local digital channels without a Set-Top Box or CableCard plugged into the Digital Cable Ready (DCR) slot.
What should I do if I want to receive interactive services, such as the FiOS TV Interactive Media Guide or On Demand programming?
You must request a Set-Top Box from Verizon. Call 1-800-VERIZON (1-800-837-4966) to request a Set-Top Box.
Can I use the FiOS TV Interactive Media Guide or Parental Controls with a CableCard?
No. Some of the advanced features of your FiOS TV service are not available using a CableCard, such as the following:

Can I create DVD copies of programs delivered through CableCard?
You can copy only those programs that do not have copy protection applied, or are flagged as "copy freely" or "copy once." The FCC regulations for copy protection of digital content lets programmers determine which content you can copy, and how many times.
How do I obtain and install a CableCard?
As a FiOS TV customer, you can lease a CableCard directly from Verizon for a low monthly fee. CableCards plug into the slot labeled "CableCard" or "POD" (Point of Deployment), usually located at the back of your TV or DVR. Visit us online to add a CableCard to your existing FiOS TV service.
What should I do if I want to cancel my CableCard service?
Contact us at 1-800-VERIZON (1-800-837-4966) to cancel your service and return the card to Verizon.
Can I remove my CableCard from the DCR (Digital Cable Ready) TV or DVR where it is currently installed and plug it into another DCR device?
No. After your CableCard is activated, the card is "paired" with the DCR (Digital Cable Ready) device (TV or DVR) in which it was originally installed. You can install your CableCard with another device by using your desktop In-Home Agent instructions or following the online activation steps.
What should I do if I move?
You must return your CableCard to Verizon if you move outside your area of service. Contact 1-800-VERIZON (1-800-837-4966) if you are moving.
Do I have to remove my CableCard from my DCR TV or DVR if I need to temporarily return it for repair?
Yes. Remove the CableCard from your DCR TV or DVR and keep it in a safe place. You are responsible for the replacement cost if the card is lost. Once you receive your new CableCard follow the self-installation instructions along with the instructions for returning the defective CableCard.
My DCR device was defective so it was replaced. Can I use my CableCard in the new unit?
Yes. You can install your CableCard with the new device by using your desktop In-Home Agent instructions or following the online activation steps.
