DVR Troubleshooting

• What happens when I run out of recording space? Once the recording space becomes full, the DVR automatically deletes the oldest shows to make space for new recordings. 
  
  To prevent your DVR from deleting saved shows: 
  
  1. Select Menu from your remote control.
  2. Select Recorded TV.
  3. Choose a program that you want to keep and then select Save Until.
     
• Can I record shows in high-definition? Yes, you can record shows in HDTV and the steps for recording shows are the same as recording shows in standard definition. HDTV, however, uses a larger amount of your DVR's memory, and stores fewer hours of taped recordings.
  
• What if I turn off the television in the middle of a recording? Your DVR bookmarks where you stopped watching the show. When you view the recording again, the program resumes where you left off.

From your remote control, select Menu and then select Help. Alternatively, your remote may have a Help button that provides quick access to help.

1. Press the Menu button on your remote control.
    
2. Select DVR from the onscreen menu.
    
3. Select Create Recording from the available options.
    
4. Select Manual Recording.
    
5. Enter the appropriate settings for your recording. You'll need to enter the:

• Channel number you want to record.
• Start date and start time of when you want the recording to start.
• End time when the recording should stop.
• Appropriate Recurring setting (every day, every weekday, never, etc.) 

6. After you've selected the Manual Recording Options, select Save.

Your DVR lets you set up a recording that will record the episodes of a TV series. This saves you from having to set up individual recordings for a TV program that you want to regularly record.
There are two ways to set up a TV Series recording:

From the TV Listings in the Guide

1. Press the Menu button on your remote control.
   
2. Select TV Listings.
   
3. Select the method to use to view the TV listings and press OK.
   
4. Navigate to the program you want to record in the TV listings and highlight it.
   
5. Press the Record button on your remote twice. 

The first button press records the program, the second button press records the TV series.

From the DVR menu in the Guide

1. Press the Menu button on your remote control.
   
2. Select DVR.
   
3. Select Create Recording.
   
4. Select one of the options and follow the onscreen prompts to set up your series recording.

Tip: In rare instances, you may find that a series recording did not record an episode of a TV series. For more details as to what can cause this issue, see, I set up a series recording but it didn't record.

There can be several reasons why a series recording didn't record an episode of a program:

• The series recording is set to record "first-run" episodes only, and the episode to be recorded was a re-run. 
  
  
• You've run out of space on your DVR and you've set your DVR to not delete the oldest recordings to make room for new recordings.
  
  

Tip: Ideally, you should try to ensure that you have at least 10% free space on your DVR's hard drive when you record new programs. Remember that if you record a program in HD, more hard drive space is required to store that program than the same program if recorded in standard definition.

• The program information in the guide that was provided to Verizon was not unique, and therefore may not record properly. This can happen occasionally with a small number of programs.
  
  To avoid this in the future, set up a manual recording

The TV listings in your Interactive Media Guide are provided to Verizon from a third party service. Sometimes the timing information your DVR receives doesn't match the actual broadcast schedule. This can cause your DVR to not record the first few minutes of a program or stop recording before the program has completely ended
To fix this you can set your DVR to record a few minutes before or after a program's scheduled broadcast time.

To change the length of recording time for a scheduled recording:

1. Press the Menu button on the remote control and select DVR.
2. Select View Schedule.
3. Select the recording in the list and choose Modify Start & End Time.
4. Select the Minutes Early or Minutes Late field. Using the arrow keys, add how many minutes earlier or later you want the DVR to record.
5. Select Save.

To change the length of recording time for a Series Recording:

1. Press the Menu button on the remote control and select DVR.
2. Select Series Manager.
3. Select Manual Series.
4. Select Modify Series.
5. Select Start or End and choose from the options provided to change the recording length of your scheduled Series Recording.
6. Select Yes to accept the modification you've just made.

To delete a recording:

1.   Press the Menu button on your remote control.
2.   Select DVR.
3.  Select Recorded Programs.
   
4. Select the program you want to delete.
   
5. Choose Remove This.

While watching Live TV, you can pause and rewind your DVR at any time by pressing the Pause button on your Fios TV remote control.

What are the requirements for using Fios DVR Manager?
To use Fios DVR Manager, you must:

• Be a Fios TV customer.
• Have a Verizon-provided DVR.
• Have access to the Internet from a computer or a wireless phone.

Are there added fees to use Fios DVR Manager?

There are no add-on fees on top of the fees you already pay as part of your regular Fios TV and Internet service or Wireless phone plan.

How do I set up Fios DVR Manager?
Follow the setup procedure on the Fios TV Central web site. The activation process generally takes between 24-48 hours to complete.

What is the mobile web site for mobile access to Fios DVR Manager?
From your Internet-connected wireless phone, you can down the Fios Mobile App to manage your DVR.

Can I use Fios DVR Manager even if my phone is not a Verizon phone?
Fios DVR Manager doesn't require that you use a Verizon phone.

Can I use the Fios DVR Manager if my DVR is not one that was provided by Verizon?
You must use a Verizon-provided DVR to use the Fios DVR Manager.

Is there an iPhone app. for the Fios DVR Manager?
To download the Fios DVR Manager iPhone application:

1. Open the app. store on your iPhone and press the Search icon.
2. Type Fios in the search box.
3. Select Verizon Fios DVR manager.
4. Press the Verizon Fios DVR... selection.
5. Press Free, then press Install.
6. Enter your password and select OK.
