Teachers unlimited plan discount - FAQs

To qualify for the teachers discount you must:

• Have at least 1 smartphone or basic phone on a qualifying Verizon monthly unlimited plan.
• Be the Account Owner or Account Manager. Visit our Account Manager FAQs to learn how to add an Account Manager.
• Be a currently-employed teacher (kindergarten to grade 12 or post-secondary instructor).
• Apply online through our Discounts by Verizon page.
• Validate your teaching employment as part of the discount registration.*
• Re-validate your teaching employment about once a year (we’ll send you a reminder).

*Certain states may require that you provide us with a teaching certificate to qualify instead of just employment information. We’ll let you know during validation if so.

Eligible teachers who have a Verizon account with at least 1 smartphone or basic phone on 1 or more of these Verizon plans to mix and match can get a monthly discount:

• Start Unlimited, Play More Unlimited, Do More Unlimited, Get More Unlimited, Just Kids*
• Go Unlimited,** Beyond Unlimited,** Above Unlimited

Note:

• Go Unlimited,** Beyond Unlimited** and Above Unlimited are no longer available to add to accounts. If you have these plans you can keep them. You can also mix and match them with our current unlimited plans.

*The Just Kids plan requires a parent line with an unlimited data plan.
**Go Unlimited and Beyond Unlimited plans purchased on or before 6/17/18 can't be mixed and matched and are not eligible for this discount. You can switch to a current unlimited plan any time in My Verizon.

The monthly teachers discount amount depends on how many phones on qualifying unlimited plans you have:

• 1 phone - $10/month discount per account
• 2 – 3 phones - $25/month discount per account
• 4+ phones - $20/month discount per account*

*This discount reflects that when you have 4 or more unlimited plans, you already get a discounted price.

If you already have a qualifying unlimited plan, validate your teaching status and sign up for the discount on our dedicated page for Teachers. Go the Get your Teachers discount section and choose Check Eligibility to get started.

If you don't yet have a qualifying unlimited plan, here's how to change your plan:

• My Verizon online: Go to the My Plan page.
• My Verizon app: Open the menu in the top left. Tap Account. Tap My Plan and follow the prompts.

When your unlimited plan is active, return to our teachers page and choose Existing Customers to sign up.

Note: You can register for a teachers discount before you get a qualifying unlimited plan. However, your discount starts only when you activate a qualifying plan on your account.

If you’re not a Verizon customer yet, visit our dedicated page for Teachers. Go the Enroll and get your Teachers discount section and choose Check Eligibility to get started.

After we've verified your teaching status, choose New to Verizon to shop for a new device (or bring your own device) and get a monthly plan.

Note: As a new customer, you must choose Start Unlimited, Play More Unlimited, Do More Unlimited, Get More Unlimited or Just Kids* to qualify for the teachers discount.

*The Just Kids plan requires a parent line with an unlimited data plan.

Yes. Depending on your plan, you may be eligible to have other discounts on your account including these and more:

• Monthly Auto Pay and paper-free billing discount

No. To be able to register and validate teaching service the person applying for the discount must be both:

• The employed teacher with a valid teaching certificate
• The Verizon Account Owner or Account Manager

If the account is in the name of a family member or friend and not the teacher, complete a Transfer of Service before registering for the discount.

No. At this time, only active teachers are eligible to apply.

Verizon recognizes the contributions of all those who are in the service of education and of school staff, especially during these trying times. Many of our spouses, family members, and friends are with you serving our communities’ students.

Our Those Who Serve program is available to these groups across the US. This broad availability requires us to use nationally-standardized validation methods. We also must comply with regulations for those employed by local or state governments. As a result, certifications and licenses for select professions are required. We continue to review expanding the program to include other groups.
