Wireless home networking with a Verizon 9100EM or 9100VM router

The system requirements for a wireless home networking using the Verizon 9100EM router are

• Processor: Pentium® or equivalent class machines or higher
• Memory: 64 MB RAM (128 MB recommended)
• Operating System: Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista
• Storage: 10 MB of free hard drive space
• Browser: Internet Explorer 5.5 or later or Netscape Navigator 7.x or higher or Firefox 1.0.7 or later
• IEEE 802.11b/g PC adapter
• Computer operating system CD-ROM

Effective May 18, 2007, Verizon will no longer provide support for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition (SE) and Windows Me (Millennium Edition) with Verizon FiOS Internet. On July 11, 2006, Microsoft discontinued support for the operating systems, and you will no longer be able to receive support or security updates from Microsoft. We recommend that you upgrade to a supported operating system immediately (e.g., Windows XP or Vista) to ensure optimal performance from your Verizon FiOS Internet Service.

1. If you have previously created your user name and password, enter your user name and password into the appropriate fields of the Login screen.

• Enter a user name in the User Name field.
  
• Enter a password in the New Password field.
• Re-enter your password in the Retype New Password field to confirm you have entered it correctly.
• Select your time zone in the Time Zone field.
• Click OK.

1. When the router home page displays, click Wireless in the top menu bar. 

2. The Wireless Status screen will display.

• The SSID is the second setting from the top.
• The WEP key settings are in the fifth row. You will need to know the WEP key and whether 64-bit or 128-bit encryption is being used.

Note: You may want to write down the SSID and WEP settings and save them in a safe place for future reference.

3. Close the configuration window.
