As demand in network capacity continues to increase to support high bandwidth services and when bandwidth requirements between two locations are very large, Wavelength Services may be your preferred solution for interconnectivity. Wavelength Services provide for a fully-managed, point-to-point circuit over a dedicated path across Verizon’s ROADM-based shared wavelength network infrastructure.
Verizon’s Wavelength Service provides a path for each point-to point-circuit and can be used to connect to a variety of premise, presence or interconnect POP locations.
In addition to the traditional Wavelength Service, Mandatory Route and Round Trip Delay SLA are now available.
Mandatory Route allows for the selection of any available route if you want to avoid particular sites or create diversity between two independent circuits. You are able to select the desired route. When selecting the Mandatory Route feature, Verizon will design your circuit on that path and it will not be groomed to another network path.
The Route Trip Delay SLA feature allows you to know the latency and guarantees that the round trip delay will not exceed the stated measurement at the time of your order. Verizon is committed to offering the lowest latency available to support mission critical and delay sensitive applications.
The volume of data storage and transmission throughout the world continues to increase rapidly. While a wide range of factors drive the overall increase, some particular items lead to the deployment of applications that utilize extremely high data rate transmission between systems. Many services are available that allow high data rate transmission, such as Dedicated Internet, Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IP VPN), Private Internet Protocol (PIP), and various Private Line options such as Synchronous Optical Network (SONET), Ethernet, and Wave Services. Deciding which service is right for you depends on a variety of factors: maximum bandwidth requirements, bandwidth variability, number of destinations, and concentration of data flows between locations, latency, jitter, availability, security requirements, and cost. Verizon’s Wavelength Services support 1Gbps – 100Gbps with a variety of optional features to deliver the right solution for you!

High-Bandwidth Service Drivers
Traditionally, extremely high data-rate transmissions, such as 2.5 Gigabits per second (Gbps), 10Gbps and 100Gbps, were used internally by facility-based service providers. Over the past several years, there has been a continued increase in demand by wholesale service providers, large Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and the Wireless segment to expand their network reach where they do not own facilities. Wavelength Services allows them to extend their network reach without the costly capital expense (capex) and with minimal impact in operational expense (OPEX) to manage and maintain that network.
